The Beginning of The Journey ~ The Snowflake Story

About The Artist
Born in the Pacific Northwest, I grew up loving nature and drawing animals. The delights of reading myths and poetry drew me to the arts. As a child I watched a Native American Mask dance where the Great Raven opens his beak and there is a little human face inside. The world of transformation beckoned.

The Dream Journey

My papercutting journey began as I was recovering from a long illness. Sleeping a lot, I began to have unusual dreams with images about healing. magical animals, mysterious guiding figures and enchanting faces would appear encouraging me to create new images of joyful connection with nature. I began to play with simple tools of paper and scissors- the art materials of childhood. I found that the silhouettes of charming spirit faces and animals would appear as I cut out the webs of folded paper.i began to share my work with others and to my delight, viewers found they to could discover surprising images of their own imagining hidden in the paper webs of dancing light and shadow.
